The driver of the Lexus, Ibrahim Salama, 36, of Raleigh, was critically injured in the accident and was airlifted to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville.
Vidant personnel declined to provide an update on his status due to patient privacy laws.
The accident occurred a little over a mile west of the Nash County/Wilson County line. The Bailey Fire Department and Nash County EMS responded.
Demuth said both drivers were wearing their seatbelts. It is unknown why Randolph was traveling in the wrong lanes or at what point his vehicle began traveling west in the eastbound lanes.
