Woman hit and killed estranged boyfriend in Chula Vista car accident

A 23-year-old man was hit and killed by a car in a Chula Vista parking lot in the 1000 block of Third Avenue around 5:23a.m. Sunday morning.

Chula Vista police say the man was attempting to break into a car of a woman he shares a child with, and he had been drinking at the time.

The woman told police he had thrown a rock at her windshield, and was trying to break into her driver’s side window as she tried to drive away. That’s when she told officers she accidentally struck him.

Officers found the man on the ground with injuries to his head.
Witnesses say the two had argued earlier while at a party. They say the woman and some friends left and went to the parking lot on Third Avenue. A short time later, they say her on again, off again boyfriend showed up at the parking lot drunk, and out of control and started fighting with the woman.
