Andover, SD : 50-year-old man died in a crash involving minivan on U.S. Highway 12 in Day County on Sunday, Oct 25, 2015

A weekend crash on U.S. Highway 12 in Day County killed a 50-year-old man.

The Highway Patrol did not immediately identify the victim of the crash 2 miles east of Andover.

Authorities say the man was driving a minivan that was in the wrong lane and collided with a recreational vehicle towing a Jeep. The man was pronounced dead at the scene shortly before 12:30 a.m. Sunday.

One of the five people in the RV suffered minor injuries.

The crash prompted the shutdown of the highway's westbound lanes for about 4 ½ hours.
