CHULA VISTA, CA : An elderly man crashed his car into a Greek restaurant on Wednesday, June 7, 2017
An elderly man crashed his car into a Greek restaurant Wednesday morning in Chula Vista.
Around 11:30 a.m., police say the driver of a black Toyota Camry Solara mistook the gas pedal for the brake and slammed into Daphne's California Greek at Terra Nova Plaza in the 300 block of E. H Street.
A few customers and employees were in the restaurant at the time but no one, including the driver, was injured.
"You’re thinking the worst, it’s gonna come inside. We were all really scared," said manager Richard Mora.
Mora and fellow manager Getzael Castellanos ran out to find an older man behind the wheel, his foot still on the gas.
"I think he was in shock. It looked like he wanted to turn on the car and keep driving," Castellanos said.
