22-year-old dies in Cumberland car wreck

A woman was killed and a local road was closed off as a result of a serious car accident early Thursday morning.The Cumberland Police and Fire Departments responded to West Wrentham Road to what they have called a fatal single-car crash. The crash was discovered around 8 a.m. on Thursday, and police said they recovered the body of a 22-year-old female who they believe died in the accident."We believe the accident happened a couple hours earlier," Cumberland Police Chief John Desmarais said. "We have witnesses that heard a crash somewhere are 1 a.m."Police said they are still trying to determine what caused the single-car crash, and they said they haven't ruled out any possible facotrs."We are looking at the weather factors from early this morning - it was foggy," Desmarais said. "All factors right now are in play."Desmarais said possibilities at this point still include alcohol, speed and texting while driving.The victim's body has been turned over to the Medical Examiner's office, and an autopsy will be performed to determine her cause of death.Police said the victim's name will likely be released at some point Friday.
