Tioga, N.D : Three teen boys killed in a pickup-semi truck accident on U.S. Highway 2 in Williams County on Monday, February 23, 2015
Three Ray area teenagers, ages 17 and 18, were killed in a two-car accident Monday night during icy road conditions on Highway 2 in Williams County.
The crash occurred around 8:30 p.m.
The male teenagers’ names have not been released at this time.
Ray School Superintendent Benjamin Schafer issued a statement saying the teens were students there and the school "is deeply saddened by this terrible tragedy.”
The teenagers were in a 2007 Silverado traveling west on Highway 2, driven by one of the 17-year-olds, and a 2000 Peterbilt semi, driven by a 33-year-old Carson man, was traveling east on the same road, according to a crash report from the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
The report states the Silverado left the roadway, crossed the median, and crashed into the eastbound lanes backwards before it the Peterbilt collided with the truck.
Both vehicles left the roadway and came to rest in the east ditch. The driver of the semi was transported to Tioga Medical Center with minor injuries after receiving extensive front-end damage.
All three Silverado occupants were killed from injuries sustained in the crash. The report states they were a 17-year-old male drive from Epping, with a 17-year-old male passenger from Ray and an 18-year-old male passenger from Ray.
Williams County Sheriff’s Office deputies, Ray Fire, Ray Community Ambulance and the U.S. Border Patrol responded to the accident.
