Salida, CO : Two seriously injured in Howard wreck on Wednesday, August 31, 2016
A 64-year-old man and a 60-year-old woman from Oklahoma received serious injuries after colliding with a deer at 7:45 a.m. Wednesday on U.S. 50 in Howard, the Colorado State Patrol wrote in a email.
Driving a 2014 Honda Gold Wing Trike eastbound, Roger Howser, Edmond, Okla., hit the animal crossing the highway from north to south.
After impact the motorcycle traveled off the right side of the roadway and rotated clockwise as it traveled across a gravel driveway.
The motorcycle then rolled an unknown number of times before coming to rest on its left side in a ditch.
Both the driver and the passenger were ejected.
The woman, Robin Howser, also of Edmond, was transported to Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center before being flown to Parkview Medical Center in Pueblo. Roger Howser was transported to HRRMC.
Both the driver and passenger were wearing helmets and appropriate riding gear. Neither drugs nor alcohol are suspected, CSP reported.
