A Medina woman was among five people seriously injured in a crash on State Route 60 in Clarksfield Township, Huron County.

According to a report from the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Krystiana Strojin of Medina was riding in the back seat of a 2005 Honda Accord driven by Draven B. Matthews, 23, of New London. Police say the Accord, traveling west on Cook Road, failed to stop at a stop sign at Route 60 around 6:27 p.m. and was struck by a 2001 Volkswagen Passat driven by Bridget K.G. Kistler, 23, of New London.

The Passat struck the Accord on the passenger side, and both cars went off the road, with the Passat coming to rest on its side.

Kistler was flown to MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland from the scene. Her daughter, whose name and age are unknown, was taken to Fisher Titus Medical Center in Norwalk and from there flown to MetroHealth. Matthews and Strojin were also taken to Fisher Titus. Calvin J. Neal, of New London, was also a passenger in Matthews’ car. He was flown from the scene to MetroHealth.

All five people sustained what police call incapacitating injuries. The crash remains under investigation, but alcohol is believed to be a factor.
