SALINAS, CA : 64-year-old female killed in traffic accident on Highway 68 in Salinas on July, Tuesday 25th 2017

A 64-year-old Salinas woman died in a traffic accident on Highway 68 on Tuesday.

The woman, driving a green 2002 Honda Civic, was killed upon impact after colliding with a white 2001 Nissan Pathfinder on the highway.

The accident occurred at approximately 10:25 a.m. east of Corral De Tierra Road in Salinas, according to CHP.

The Honda was traveling westbound on Highway 68, and then made a U-turn onto eastbound traffic. The car collided with the Nissan, causing the Nissan to turn over.

CHP identified the driver of the Nissan as 33-year-old Marina resident Alex Alexander.

He was taken to Natividad Medical Center after the accident, and CHP described his injuries as "moderate". Alexander's current condition is unknown.

The coroner's office has not released the deceased woman's name.
