New York State Police say a trooper and a 27-year-old man are recovering from minor injuries suffered when their vehicles collided on a Syracuse-area road. Officials say Trooper Robert Vanjohnson was on patrol in a marked state police car when he attempted to stop a vehicle for speeding in the Onondaga County town of Cicero around 5 p.m. Tuesday. Police say the trooper entered into the path of car being driven by Ryan Cranker of Syracuse. His car hit the trooper's cruiser on the driver's-side door, causing the patrol car to end up in a ditch. Vanjohnson was taken to University Hospital in Syracuse for treatment of minor head injuries. Cranker was treated at St. Joseph's Hospital for minor head and neck injuries.
