Box Elder County, UT : 23-year-old student died in semi-truck crash on Wednesday December 30 2015

A Utah State University student died Wednesday when his SUV slid into the path of an oncoming semitrailer in Sardine Canyon.
The crash happened about 8:30 a.m. on U.S. 89/91. An SUV was headed up the canyon near Mantua when the driver lost control of his vehicle on the snowy and icy roads and slid into the path of a semitrailer headed down the canyon, said Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. Todd Royce.
The SUV was broadsided on the driver's side door by the semitrailer, killing the driver. The SUV was hit a second time when a vehicle traveling behind the semi was unable to stop in time after the first crash, Royce said. The 67-year-old driver of the semitrailer and the 39-year-old driver of the second vehicle and her 15-year-old passenger suffered minor injuries, he said.
Joshua T. Diamond, 23, of West Jordan, was killed. Diamond was a student at USU, Royce said.
Excessive speed for the bad weather conditions was being investigated as a factor in the crash, he said.
