New Bedford, MA : Two adults and four children injured in a school bus accident in New Bedford on Monday, February 22, 2016

A school bus accident in New Bedford sent two adults and four children to the hospital.

Police responded to the area of Rockdale Avenue on Monday at about 7:30 a.m. regarding a three vehicle accident. One of the vehicles being a school bus with two children on board

According to police, a 32-year-old woman was driving her van with her two young children on board when she attempted to make a U-turn in the middle of the street. She was attempting to drop off her kids at their school near by.

As she turned, the woman was struck from behind by a driver going south on Rockdale Avenue. This caused her to careen into the northbound lane and strike a school bus that was traveling north. This was not a head on collision.

The female bus driver and two students on board were taken to St. Luke's Hospital by ambulance for observation.

The woman is the van and her two children were also taken to St. Luke's Hospital by ambulance for observation and she will be cited for a traffic violation.
