SPARTA, WI : National Guard staff sergeant remembers trooper killed in crash on April, Tuesday 11th 2017
Members of the Wisconsin Army National Guard are remembering a state trooper who died in a crash in Sauk County Tuesday.
Trooper Anthony Borostowski died early Tuesday morning in a crash on Interstate 90-94 near Lake Delton.
In addition to patrolling Wisconsin’s highways, Borostowski served in the Wisconsin Army National Guard as a staff sergeant.
Borostowski deployed as a combat medic and trauma specialist to Kuwait, Iraq and Afghanistan, and was awarded numerous military awards for his service.
Staff Sgt. Tim Ehlers serves in the guard and is also a first responder in Sparta and Tomah, so he knew Borostowski both as a soldier and a trooper.
He remembers Borostowski, known to those in the Guard by the nickname "Boro," as a true professional who loved to share stories and cared about people.
"Boro was that guy that would do anything for anyone," Ehlers said. "He was truly just that all-around good guy. He did an amazing job correlating both his civilian work and his national guard work."
