Monroe, LA : Two die in Tensas Parish wreck on February, Saturday 17th 2018
Two unrestrained occupants lost their lives yesterday after the vehicle they were in traveled off the road and struck a ditch embankment.
Shortly after 6:40 p.m. Saturday, Louisiana State Police Troop F responded to a single-vehicle crash on Louisiana 128 near St. Joseph. A preliminary investigation revealed a 2004 Mazda Tribute, driven by Charles Barnes, 60, of St. Joseph, was traveling west on the highway when the vehicle he was driving traveled off the right side of the road and struck a ditch embankment.
After hitting the embankment, the vehicle became airborne, and two of the four occupants were ejected from the vehicle.
Barnes, who was not restrained, was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
An unrestrained passenger in the vehicle, Sylvester Barnes, age 65, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Tensas Parish Coroner’s Office.
