Wikieup, AZ : 2 killed in wreck on northbound US 93 near Wikieup on Thursday, January 1, 2015

An auto accident in northwestern Arizona killed two people and partially closed the main highway between Phoenix and Las Vegas for several hours Thursday.

The accident closed northbound U.S. 93 about seven miles south of Wikieup late Thursday morning, but one northbound lane was reopened early in the afternoon.

A Department of Public Safety spokesman said two people were killed.

No further details were immediately available regarding the accident, but the state Department of Transportation said conditions were icy on the highway in the area.
