Heber-Overgaard ,AZ : Husband and wife killed two-vehicle crash along State Route 260 on Sunday ,May 31st 2015

A couple is dead after a two-vehicle crash on State Route 260 in Heber-Overgaard.

It happened Sunday. Firefighters from Heber-Overgaard and Forest Lakes responded to the scene.

Arizona Department of Public Safety photos from the scene showed a box truck on its side and a car that had gone off the roadway.

DPS spokesman Tim Case identified the victim as Michael D. Frakes, 72, of Phoenix. Frakes was driving east when for "an unknown reason" he crossed into the westbound lanes and hit the truck. His wife, Cecilia "Cissy" Frakes, was with him. Cissy Frakes, who was born in Tucson, was 71.

Mike and Cissy Frakes are survived by their four sons, their sons' wives, and nine grandchildren.

The driver of the truck suffered minor injuries.

A portion of SR 260 was closed while first responders treated the patients and investigators worked to reconstruct the moments leading up to the wreck.
