Chico, CA : 1-year-old boy killed in car accident near Orland on Monday, October 2, 2017

A 1-year-old boy was killed in a car accident Monday afternoon near Orland.

The boy, Davian Barron, was struck by a pickup turning into a private driveway in the 4700 block of County Road E northwest of Orland, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The driver of the pickup, Michael Maldonado, 16, was parking in the driveway of his home about 3:15 p.m. and for reasons not yet known struck Barron with his 2009 Chevrolet Silverado, according to the CHP.

Barron suffered fatal injuries.
