BLOOMINGTON, IL : Boy on bike seriously injured in collision with car at the intersection of Allin Street and West Oakland Avenue on Monday, 26th August 2019
Cayce Hodgson said she has been concerned for two years about the children riding their bikes near her home at the intersection of Allin Street and West Oakland Avenue in west Bloomington.
"I sit on my porch a lot after I work," she said Monday. "Kids come by here and don't stop for nothing. And people fly up and down this road.
"I've been here two years and it's sad that I had to witness this baby in the road," she said after a boy on a bicycle and a car collided Monday night at the intersection.Police said early Tuesday that the boy was flown from a Twin City hospital to a trauma center in either Peoria or Champaign for treatment. Officers remained on the scene after midnight, and reports still were incomplete and not available.
The boy was riding north on Allin through the intersection when he collided with a car heading west on Oakland shortly after 7 p.m., said Hodgson, who witnessed the accident from her porch.
Police were called about 7:08 p.m. to the crash scene, said Bloomington Police Sgt. Jim Clesson, declining to release further details about the boy, the driver or what happened. He also said he did not know the nature or extent of the boy's injuries.
