Augusta, GA : Fatal crash leaves one dead on Mike Padgett Highway on Monday, 9th September 2019

The Richmond County Coroner is investigating a fatal crash on Mike Padgett Highway.

Barbara Hayes, 57, of the 2400 block of Quail Court West, was a passenger of a Toyota Corolla traveling north on Mike Padgett Highway when the vehicle ran into the back of a tractor-trailer, Coroner Mark Bowen said. The crash occurred at Mike Padgett and Marving Griffin Road around 5:43 a.m.

The driver of the Toyota was taken to AU Medical Center and their condition is unknown.

Hayes’ body will be sent to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Crime Lab for an autopsy. She was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, Bowen said.
