Poinciana, FL : Friends of 13-year-old killed in crash describe moments before and after impact on April, thursday 27th 2017
As the family of 13-year-old Jaheim Robertson mourns losing him to injuries suffered in a crash Thursday afternoon, two sisters who were with Jaheim on the bus just moments before the crash shared their grief and sorrow.Jeysha and Krista Taylor were walking just a few steps behind Jaheim and 13-year-old Juan Mena, just a block away from Jaheim's home, when the car struck them and three other children.
Jeysha told us she wished she could have done more to help.
"If I had heard the car, then maybe this wouldn't have happened," said Jeysha.
The Taylor sisters and Jaheim were all best friends, neighborhood buddies who had just gotten off the bus together.
"We were all laughing," said Jeysha. "We had all gotten our prom invitations that day."
That's when she said they saw a car whiz by them and hit the boys.
"All I saw was Juan and Jaheim just go flying across," said Jeysha. "I saw Juan try and stand up and he was walking around and he was so dizzy he fell."
Jeysha said she quickly called 911. When police arrived on the scene, an officer gave Jeysha a teddy bear to help comfort her.
"I thought if I look at this teddy bear and tell it Jaheim was going to be ok, then it was going to be true," said Jeysha, showing us the teddy bear.
Jeysha also shared with us a letter she wrote to Jaheim last night, before he passed away.
"We all love you tons and I'll love you forever and always," said Jeysha, reading from her letter. “You’re a wonderful kid who didn’t deserve it. My poor love, I’m so sorry I couldn’t help you in any other way. Much love, Jeysha.”
Now, the two sisters are left to comfort one another, and remember the friend they lost.
"He was funny, kind, sweet and caring," said Krista.
