1 killed in 2-car crash in Oceanside California

One person was killed Wednesday in a 2-car crash in Oceanside. The head-on crash was reported at about 6:30 p.m. near Oceanside Boulevard and Avenida Del Oro.

Police say a man in an Acura Integra was driving a female passenger. The Integra was going eastbound on Oceanside Boulevard at a high rate of speed when the driver lost control of the vehicle and struck a palm tree in the center median.
The car split in two and the driver was ejected and thrown into the eastbound lanes. The portion of the vehicle with the female passenger continued into westbound lanes and was struck by a passing Nissan sedan. The female passenger died at the scene.

Inside the Nissan was a couple. Both sustained minor injuries.The driver of the Acura was taken to a hospital to be treated for major injuries. Police say they will be testing him for DUI.
