Thurston County, WA : Bicyclist seriously injured in second bike-car crash near Lacey on Wednesday night, October 26, 2016
A bicyclist was hit by a car and injured while crossing Martin Way near Lacey on Wednesday night, according to the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office.
The 25-year-old man, who was bicycling without lights on, was hit just after 7 p.m. by a vehicle traveling between 10 and 15 mph, spokeswoman Carla Carter said.
Lacey Fire District 3 confirmed that the bicyclist was wearing all black and wasn’t wearing a helmet. He was transported to Providence St. Peter Hospital in serious condition with lacerations to his head.
It was the second bicycle crash on Martin Way this week.
A bicyclist was flown to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle on Tuesday after being struck by a vehicle at about 6:50 a.m. on Martin Way near the Interstate 5 on-ramp.
The bicyclist sustained serious head injuries, according to Lacey Police Det. Sgt. Terence Brimmer, and was not wearing a helmet.
