Altoona, IA : Multi-vehicle crash closes portion of I-80 in central Iowa on Monday afternoon, January 5, 2015

Authorities have closed a portion of Interstate 80 in central Iowa following a multi-vehicle crash.

Iowa State Patrol Sgt. Scott Bright says several vehicles are involved in the Monday afternoon crash on I-80 near Altoona. All westbound lanes at the crash site are closed. There are no reports of injuries, and additional information about the crash is not available.

Bright says there are multiple reports of vehicles sliding on Iowa roadways and entering ditches as a winter storm moves across the state. Several inches of snow are expected to fall in the state Monday.
