TORRINGTON, CT : Torrington woman killed in Texas crash on April, Monday 8th 2017
Jessica Marciano, 32, of Torrington, died Saturday morning along I-10 after her vehicle was struck by a tractor trailer near the town of Ozona, Texas.
According to Texas state police, Marciano was eastbound along I-10 just before 5 a.m. April 8 when she dozed off.
The 2005 Ford Ranger passed into the center of the highway, rolled over and came to rest partially blocking the eastbound inside lane, state police said.
Marciano was able to free herself with help from another member of the group she was travelling with and was sitting on the vehicle when a Kenworth tractor trailer struck it.
The friend who had stopped to help was walking back to his car to call 911 when the crash happened.
The tractor trailer driver, from Minnesota, could not see the vehicle, police said.
The truck then continued on, crossing into the westbound lane where it struck a Volkswagen passenger car, killing the driver, 54-year-old Isael Izaguirre-Garza of Mexico, and two passenger, Nora Castillo and Maria Lopez Izaguirre.
The truck driver, from Minnesota, was seriously injured.
Marciano graduated from Torrington High School in 1998. Her mother and her aunt survive her in Torrington.
Friend Carrie Cadrain of Torrington got the news Saturday.
“She was a free spirited, down to Earth, and beautifully honest and welcoming person, she said. “She lived her life the way she wanted to, she was always happy.”
Marciano was touring with a group of fellow “fire spinners” who were touring at renaissance fairs in Texas.
Marciano had performed her fire spinning at Main Street Marketplace with Cadrain and Cadrain’s husband Adam several years ago, and took her interest on the road. She loved to travel and perform with audiences.
Services will be held at St. Paul’s Church in Torrington at a date to be set next week.
