Holiday, FL : 13-year-old girl crashes car into pole after pursuit by Pasco deputies early Sunday, March 20, 2016

A 13-year-old girl crashed a car into a telephone pole early Sunday, leaving her passenger, who is also 13, with serious injuries.

State troopers say the girl lost control of a Hyundai Sonata at about 4:15 a.m. while traveling eastbound on Darlington Road following a pursuit by Pasco County deputies.

The driver, who had minor injuries, was taken to Trinity Hospital, and the passenger was transported to All Children's Hospital in St. Petersburg, the Florida Highway Patrol reported.

The ambulance responding to the scene, driven by Philip Larkin, 45, was struck by a Nissan Altima in the intersection of U.S. 19 and Darlington Road.

Larkin and his passenger, Shawn Olsen, 24, were taken to Trinity Hospital with minor injuries.

The driver of the Altima, 80-year-old Jack Barrier, was ticketed for failing to yield to an emergency vehicle, and the Pasco County Sheriff's Office is determining criminal charges for the girl, the Highway Patrol said.
