Spartanburg,SC : Man cited in crash involving deputy in Spartanburg on July, Friday 28th 2017

A Spartanburg man was cited by S.C. Highway Patrol troopers after a crash involving a Spartanburg County Sheriff’s deputy.

Highway Patrol Cpl. Bill Rhyne said a 57-year-old man was issued a ticket for failure to yield the right of way after the crash, which occurred a little after 8 p.m. Friday night.

The deputy was heading west on Asheville Highway toward Inman when Smith’s car pulled out in front of him, causing the two vehicles to crash, Rhyne said.

“It happened, but it’s not the deputy’s fault,” Rhyne said.

Both drivers were uninjured and were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash, Rhyne said.
