Jamestown,ND : Two injured in Steele motorcycle accident on June, Saturday 3rd 2017

Two men were injured in a motorcycle accident Saturday, according to the North Dakota Highway Patrol.

The accident occurred at 4:25 p.m. about 8 miles east of Steele on U.S. Interstate 94.


Three motorcycles were traveling westbound from Jamestown to Bismarck when a deer ran across the road and was struck by a 2003 Harley Davidson, driven by Lyle Herman, 60, Mandan, the patrol said. Herman was thrown from the motorcycle and came to rest in the north ditch.

Christof Paul, 27, Bismarck, was riding a 2006 Harley Davidson and was forced to lock up his brakes and laid over his motorcycle to avoid debris from Herman’s motorcycle, the patrol said.

Herman was transported to Sanford Health in Bismarck and Paul to CHI St. Alexius-Bismarck for treatment of injuries.

Neither rider was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. The patrol is continuing to investigate the crash.
