Clayton, IL : Two injured in Clayton crash on Friday night, March 10, 2017
Two people were injured in a Friday night crash on U.S. 24 in Clayton.
The Adams County Sheriff's Department reported that a 2008 Dodge Avenger driven by Kimberly S. Bradbury, 43, of Mount Sterling, was traveling west on U.S. 24, about 500 feet east of West Main Street at 5:50 p.m. The report said a 2014 Chevrolet Impala driven by Virginia L. Dewitt, 82, of Mount Sterling, came to a complete stop in front of Bradbury, who was able to stop, but then the Dewitt vehicle went into reverse and backed into the front of the Bradbury vehicle.
Bradbury and Dewitt, who both were wearing seat belts, were taken by Adams County Ambulance to Blessing Hospital with minor injuries. A passenger in the Bradbury vehicle, Edward F. Parker, 45, of Mount Sterling, was not injured.
Dewitt was ticketed for improper backing.
The department was assisted by Clayton Fire Department, Adams County Ambulance and Camp Point Police Department.
