Lakeland, FL : Man killed, another injured after crash on I-4 near Lakeland early Tuesday morning, February 16, 2016
One man was killed and another hospitalized after their truck crashed into a median barrier and overturned early Tuesday morning.
At about 2:41 a.m., Darrell A. Woodren, 26, of Sanford and an unidentified passenger were traveling eastbound on Interstate 4 near Lakeland. For reasons still unknown, the 2006 Isuzu truck they were in left the roadway and entered the center median, according to a Florida Highway Patrol report.
The truck then collided with the cable barrier and overturned. The passenger, a 46-year-old man from Titusville, was declared dead on the scene.
Woodren was transported to Lakeland Regional Medical Center, where he was treated for minor injuries.
Troopers say alcohol was not a factor in the crash. They also report that Woodren was wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash, while the passenger was not.
Charges against Woodren at this time are pending the results of the ongoing investigation.
