Marion, PA : Virginia trucker killed in I-81 crash at Marion early Tuesday on July 15, 2014

A tractor-trailer driver from Virginia was killed early Tuesday in an accident on northbound Interstate 81 in Franklin County, Pa., when his vehicle caught fire after going off the roadway, Pennsylvania State Police said.

The driver was identified as Steven Lee Winfrey, 51, of Roanoke, Va., police said.
The tractor-trailer struck a cement storm drain at 4:52 a.m. and burst into flames after traveling about 200 yards in the grassy area off of the interstate near Exit 10, according to a state police news release.

Winfrey sent a radio message to the driver of a tractor-trailer behind him saying that he wasn't feeling well moments before his vehicle went off the interstate, troopers said.
The driver of the tractor-trailer behind Winfrey's vehicle stopped to help, but he could not do anything due to the intense fire, troopers said.

The accident is still under investigation.
