Deer River ,MN:Two People killed after collision between car and sport utility vehicle in northern Minnesota on Tuesday Morning ,September 8th 2015

The Minnesota State Patrol says two people are dead after a broadside collision between a car and a sport utility vehicle in northern Minnesota.

The crash happened about 6:45 a.m. Tuesday in Itasca County. The patrol says both vehicles were southbound on Minnesota Highway 46 when the Chevrolet Camaro pulled onto the shoulder and started making a U-turn. The Chevy Trailblazer struck the driver's side of the Camaro, and both vehicles ended in the ditch.

Both people in the Camaro were killed. The patrol identifies them as the driver, 27-year-old Cory Jones of Cass Lake, and his passenger, 21-year-old Jaclyn Howard of Deer River.

The 29-year-old Cass Lake man who was driving the Trailblazer had non-life-threatening injuries.
