Corydon, IN : Milltown man dies in crash on Saturday, December 3rd, 2016
A multiple vehicle crash on S.R. 135 Saturday afternoon killed a Milltown man.
Officers with the Harrison County Sheriff's Dept. were dispatched to an injury crash at the intersection of S.R. 135 and Whiskey Run Road, just north of New Salisbury at 12:40 p.m.
The investigation showed that a 1999 Ford Ranger, driven by Shane M. Jones, 20, of Milltown, was traveling north on S.R. 135 and struck a 2003 Chevy Silverado, driven by James L. Mattingly, 60, Palmyra, that was stopped waiting to turn left onto West Whiskey Run Road. After hitting the Silverado, the Ford Ranger went into the southbound lane of traffic and was struck by a 2005 Jeep Liberty, driven by Katherine Maxey, 78, Palmyra. After the impact, the Ranger began to spin, causing Jones to be ejected. Before coming to rest, the Ranger struck a fourth vehicle, a 1999 Ford Expedition, which was traveling south. The driver of the fourth vehicle was Jeffrey Johnson, 44, of Pekin.
Jones was pronounced dead at the scene.
Mattingly was taken by ground ambulance to University Hospital in Louisville, and Maxey was flown to UofL Hospital.
