Bend, OR : A fatal crash involving two vehicles on May, Monday, 15th 2017

A fatal crash involving two vehicles closed U.S. Highway 20 to eastbound traffic at Santiam Junction for about an hour on Monday.

Oregon State Police responded to a report of a two-vehicle crash on Highway 20 at about 10:04 a.m., according to a release from OSP. Troopers found Lucas Ettinger, 33, of Salem, was traveling eastbound in a green 2001 Toyota Tacoma on the highway at Santiam Junction when Danna Metzler, 63, of Sutherlin, driving a 1993 Ford F250 pickup westbound, crossed into Ettinger’s lane.

The cars collided nearly head-on. Metzler suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. Passengers received minor injuries and were transported for treatment, the release said.

Highway 20 was closed for about an hour after the crash. One lane was open for two hours until both lanes reopened.
