ORANGE COUNTY, FL : One man is dead after Highway Patrol says his speeding car collided on Saturday, January, 6th 2018
One man is dead after Highway Patrol says his speeding car collided with another, west of downtown Orlando.
The mangled wreckage of both cars, sat on the side of Colonial Drive this morning. Highway Patrol secured the scene. The two cars involved were a black Honda sedan and a white Suzuki SUV.
The Florida Highway Patrol says the Suzuki in teh eastbound lane of Colonial Drive was trying to make a left turn onto Hastings Street when the speeding Honda heading westbound smashed into it.
They say the 27-year-old Hiran Rodriguez was driving the black Honda. He died at the scene. FHP troopers say he wasn't wearing a seatbelt.
Troopers say he crashed into the Suzuki that 20-year-old Ashley Duncan and Brishauna Malcom were in. Both women went to ORMC for treatment.
Highway Patrol says medical examiners are testing Rodriguez' blood to see whether he'd been drinking. They say it's an open investigation, and they're still looking to speak with any witnesses.
