NORTH BROOKFIELD, MA : A man was injured in a single-vehicle crash on Oakham Road on Sunday, 11th March 2018

A man who was injured in a single-vehicle crash on Oakham Road about 9:30 a.m. Sunday faces charges in the crash, police said.

North Brookfield police, who did not release the man’s name, said Sunday night he was being held without bail after being released from the hospital but they did not say what he was charged with. He is expected to be arraigned Monday in Western Worcester District Court in East Brookfield Monday on charges related to the crash, North Brookfield police said.

At the scene, a pickup truck appeared to have been headed north, crossed the road, went through a snowbank, traveled along a stone wall, became airborne, struck a utility pole and came to rest against a tree.

Wires were down and National Grid cut power to the area. The road was closed for hours as accident reconstruction specialists from the Central Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council assisted North Brookfield police in their investigation.

The injured man was taken to UMass Memorial Medical Center - University Campus in Worcester by a LifeFlight helicopter, which landed at North Brookfield High School.
