Pasadena, MD : One person injured in a car crash involving school bus in Anne Arundel County on Monday afternoon, March 30, 2015
A motor vehicle collision in Pasadena involving a school bus from Chesapeake Bay Middle School and a car sent one man to a trauma center Monday.
The 34-year-old man was taken to University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore with serious but non-life threatening injuries, said Lt. Eric Hammack, a fire department spokesman. His name has not been released.
Firefighters were dispatched around 3:20 p.m. to the intersection at Edwin Raynor Boulevard and Magothy Bridge Road.
There were two students, a driver and bus attendant, aboard the school bus which was finishing its route after dismissal from school, said Maneka Monk, Anne Arundel County schools spokeswoman. None was injured.
Firefighters extricated the injured man in five minutes, Hammack said. A helicopter was called but canceled and the man was transported by ambulance.
Hammack said four other people were evaluated and parents of children involved were on the scene. All declined to be taken to an area hospital for evaluation.
There were 233 accidents on Edwin Raynor Boulevard over the last three years, according to information released in January by Anne Arundel County police. That puts it slightly above average countywide. None has been fatal.
There were 23 accidents in that time period at the Magothy Bridge Road intersection.
