Hoover, AL : Two people are dead and two children are being treated for injuries after a one-vehicle crash on I-459 on June 24th 2014.

Two people are dead and two children are being treated for injuries after a one-vehicle wreck on I-459 this afternoon.

Authorities say around 12:30 p.m., an SUV that had been traveling north on I-459 lost control, crossed the median, rolled, then came to rest in the southbound lanes on I-459. The accident occurred between the Highway 31 and Lorna Road exits.

Four people were present in the vehicle at the time of the crash, three of which were ejected. The adult driver was killed, and authorities are working to determine if the other fatality was an adult or a juvenile.

Two children were transported to Children's of Alabama, one with life-threatening injuries.

Two lanes of I-459 southbound remain closed at 3 p.m. while investigators document the scene. The northbound lanes are open.
