A fatal crash on Highway 59 between Highway 94 in Douglas and Edwards Road about 8 miles south of Wright caused the closure of the highway for a few hours Thursday morning, said Highway Patrol Sgt. Jeremy Beck.
A semitrailer broke down in the northbound driving lane near Bill at about 6:30 a.m. The driver got out of the truck and walked into the southbound lane, according to a Highway Patrol press release. At the same time, a pickup heading north merged into the southbound lane to go around the semitrailer.The pickup collided with the semi driver, who died at the crash scene. His name will not be released until his family is notified.
Highway 59 reopened early Thursday afternoon after the crash scene was cleared.
