Ottawa,KS : Deputy uninjured in head-on wreck on September, Tuesday 26th 2017
A Franklin County sheriff’s deputy was involved in a non-injury head-on wreck Tuesday afternoon on south Georgia Road, according to a sheriff’s report.
Jeff Richards, Franklin County sheriff, said deputies were responding to a possible theft in progress at about 12:20 p.m. Tuesday in the 2100 block of south Georgia Road.
“The people that were on the property were speeding away,” Richards said. “They came out of a field drive and turned on [Georgia] where our deputy was coming. As he was coming out of the field drive, they collided head on. There was no significant injuries.”
Richards said the sheriff’s office set up a small perimeter for a short-lived search for one of the suspects. The sheriff said the two suspects, a man and a woman, were in custody as of early Tuesday afternoon.
The investigation of the theft was ongoing Tuesday, and the Kansas Highway Patrol was in charge of the wreck, Richards said.
