Rye,NH : Friends remember Rye teen killed in sledding accident in Maine on January, Thursday 18th 2018

A Rye teenager killed in a sledding accident in Maine is being remembered.

Police said David Kohlhase, 18, and Max Malila, 17, were riding a tube down a ski slope at Sunday River ski resort in the dark when they crashed into a tree.

On Thursday, friends of Kohlhase’s left roses on his boat in Rye Harbor.

“He was a really respected young man,” said family friend Todd Hamilton. “He was a senior in high school who wanted to get his captain’s license, and yeah, it's a tragedy.”

Students at Portsmouth High School wore all black to school Thursday in honor of their classmate.
