FALL RIVER, MA : Man injured after car crashes into scooter on South Main Street in Fall River on Sunday, 23rd July 2018

A man was taken to Rhode Island Hospital after a car crashed into the scooter he was operating Sunday on South Main Street.

The scooter operator’s injuries were described as not being life-threatening, according to Fall River police Lt. John Martins.

Fall River police and fire responded to the crash, which was reported at 3:15 p.m. Sunday, at the intersection of South Main and Center streets. Martins said the preliminary investigation indicated that the motor vehicle operator was traveling south on South Main Street when he tried to turn left on Hamlet Street and collided with the scooter, which was traveling north.

Martins said the motor vehicle operator, an adult male, was not injured, and was cited for failing to yield to an oncoming vehicle. Martins said the crash is being investigated by the Fall River Police Department’s accident reconstruction team, in conjunction with the uniform and major crimes divisions.
