PICKENS, SC : Driver dies after crashing into tree in Pickens Co on Friday, 10th May 2024

South Carolina Highway Patrol said one person is dead after their car crashed into several trees Friday night.

According to troopers, the crash occurred at around 11 p.m. near the Oconee County line on Old Seneca Road.

Officials said the driver was traveling north on the road when they ran off the road to the right, hit several trees and was ejected from vehicle.

The driver passed away at the scene. The coroner identified the victim as 40-year-old Jonathan Reid Hancock.
