Traverse City,MI : Traverse City man dies in motorcycle crash on Monday, 7th May 2018
A 63-year-old Traverse City man who worked for years to save others' lives died following a motorcycle crash Monday.
John Mull was a paramedic for North Flight Aero Med, previously Munson Healthcare's North Flight EMS, according a statement from the airborne ambulance operator. He had been a crew member since its founding in 1986, and returned part-time shortly after retiring in September because he missed caring for the patients.
Mull crashed a motorcycle while driving north on M-22 with a 49-year-old Cedar woman as passenger at about 6:07 p.m., Leelanau County Sheriff Mike Borkovich said. The two went off the road's left side when he lost control at the end of a curve near the M-204 intersection.
Another driver saw the crashed pair and tried CPR on Mull as Leland Township Fire and Rescue and sheriff's deputies arrived, according to Borkovich and a release from the sheriff's department. Mull was unresponsive, and he was later taken to Munson Medical Center on a North Flight Aero Med helicopter. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.
The passenger was also taken to Munson Medical Center after suffering "serious" but non life-threatening injuries, authorities said. Borkovich said she should recover — privacy laws barred him from releasing her name.
