Wichita, KS : 18-year-old motorcyclist critically injured in crash with SUV on 143rd and 159th Streets East in Wichita on Tuesday morning, March 29, 2016

A motorcycle rider was in critical condition after a crash east of Wichita Tuesday morning.

The crash happened on Central at Ridgehurst. That is between 143rd and 159th Streets East. Deputies said an SUV was making a turn from Ridgehurst to go east on Central, and it collided with a westbound motorcycle. The cycle rider, reported to be an 18-year-old Andover High School student, was taken to a hospital with critical injuries. The 18-year-old driver of the SUV was not injured.

Traffic on Central was closed for hours, as investigators took measurements and photos of the crash.
