Boise, ID : 25-year-old man killed, 4 others injured in a Fairview Avenue wreck early Friday morning, March 17, 2017
A 25-year-old Boise man died in the crash along Fairview Avenue near Bluff Street, Ada County Coroner Dotti Owens said.
Jacob Ryan Cecil died of blunt force trauma, Owens said. He was seated in the middle of the back seat of the car and was not wearing a seat belt, she said. He died at the scene.
The Boise Police Department confirmed that four other people were injured and were taken to a hospital for treatment. One of the victims has been released from the hospital. Initially, police reported only four people were in the car, but corrected that number Friday afternoon -- verifying that a total of five people, including Cecil, were in the vehicle.
The wreck took place at about 3:15 a.m. Friday, in the section of Fairview east of Orchard Street before it becomes a one-way street heading west.
That section of Fairview and the nearby westbound on-ramp for the Connector remained closed through much of Friday morning’s rush hour as crews worked to clear the scene. The area reopened shortly after 8 a.m. The Connector itself remained open throughout the morning.
The wrecked vehicle was loaded onto a flatbed truck around 7:30 a.m. as crews worked to clear the scene.
Boise police are seeking witnesses to the crash but they do believe alcohol played a role in the crash. No charges have been filed yet.
