Sevierville, TN : Man arrested after wrong way crash on Boyds Creek Highway near Oak View on Tuesday, February 3, 2015

Sevier County deputies say a driver going the wrong way on a popular roadway ended with a crash and driving going to jail.

Arrest warrants show Sevier County deputies arrested Shannon Dewayne Russell after he was spotted leaving the Pilot station on Winfield Dunn parkway at a high rate of speed. Warrants show the driver was going the wrong direction on the road.

Deputies say they tried to stop Russell, but he didn't. Eventually the car crashed on Boyds Creek Highway near Oak View. A passenger was injured and treated at LeConte Medical Center.

Deputies say they discovered he had a suspended license out of Knox County.

Russell was charged wtih Driving while Suspended, Evading Arrest, Violation of Implied Consent, DUI, and Vehicular Assault.
