Hollywood, FL : Three people injured in crash involving school bus in Hollywood on Tuesday, January 27, 2015
A driver had to be pulled from the wreckage of his car after a crash involving a school bus and another car in Hollywood.
The crash occurred at Harrison Street and 52nd Avenue about 2:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Police said it appeared the driver of the school bus ran a stop sign.
Sky 10 was above the scene as the driver of an orange Honda Accord was rescued from the wreckage and placed into an ambulance.
That driver was taken to Memorial Regional Hospital. The bus driver and a passenger in the Acord were also taken to the hospital.
Six children, all under the ages of 5, were on the bus. They were not injured and could be seen sitting together in the grass near the crash scene.
A woman who arrived at the scene to pick up her son was aghast at the severity of the crash.
"I thought it was just a little accident," she told Local 10 News. "It's a big accident."
Carrying her son in her arms, she said he was OK.
"He's fine," she said. "He's just worried about his driver."
A nearby resident told Local 10 he heard the crash and saw two men trying to pry open the door, so he got a steel rod to help them.
"They jammed it in there and tried to break the door open, but they couldn't do it," he said.
