Memphis ,TN : AR officer airlifted to Memphis after getting hit by car on Monday night ,July 20th 2015

An Arkansas police officer is at Regional One Medical Center after getting hit by a car.

Investigators said it happened around 9 Monday night in Helena-West Helena, Arkansas.

Lieutenant Dennis Cox found a stolen car and called for a wrecker. As the wrecker was towing the car away, a different car slammed into officer Cox.

The driver of that car stayed on scene and talked to investigators. The driver said he did not see officer Cox.

Cox was airlifted to Regional One in critical condition. Tuesday morning, hospital officials said officer Cox's condition was stable.

State police are now investigating the crash.
