Osceola County, FL : 44-year-old Kissimmee man died in semi-truck crash near the Orange-Osceola County Line on Tuesday morning, December 8, 2015

A 44-year-old Kissimmee man died this morning when he lost control of his car and crossed into the path of a semi-truck, troopers say.

The crash happened about 6:35 a.m. on Orange Avenue between Town Center Boulevard and the Osceola Parkway, near the Orange-Osceola County Line.

Troopers say the man was driving north in a 1993 Toyota Camry, when he lost control while negotiating a curve.

The Camry went off the shoulder and, in an attempt to regain control, swerved back onto the road, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

He failed to control the vehicle, though, and crossed the center line, travelling directly into the path of a semi-truck, troopers said.

The front of the semi collided with the passenger side of the Camry, pushing it on to the west shoulder, according to FHP.

The man – whose name hasn't been released – died at the scene.

Michael Campbell, 44, of Orlando was driving the semi-truck. He wasn't injured, troopers said.

Orange County Fire Rescue crews went to the to try to help the entrapped man.

Troopers have had the road closed since the crash, as the investigate and crews work to clear the mangled car from under the front of the semi.

As of about 11 a.m., FHP was reporting the road still closed.
