DERBY, CT : Officials investigating a fatal accident on Roosevelt Drive (Route 34) on Sunday, 8th March, 2020

Police are investigating a fatal car accident that happened late Sunday morning, according to Mayor Richard Dziekan.
The preliminary investigation showed that sedan traveling west heading toward Seymour crossed into the oncoming lane, crashed into a vehicle headed east and then burst into flames.
The crash happened on Roosevelt Drive (Route 34) at around 11:14 a.m., according to police. Dziekan said the driver of the sedan was pronounced dead on the scene.
As of 6:00 Sunday evening, police were waiting for the medical examiner to arrive on the scene, the mayor said.
Dziekan referenced his years as a police officer and said the accident “was truly one of the worst ones” he had ever seen.
